Equinix Launches Purpose-Built IBX Data Center in Hong Kong to Enable Hong Kong’s AI Ambitions

(Nasdaq: EQIX), the world’s digital infrastructure company®, today celebrated its 25th anniversary in Hong Kong with the opening of HK6, its sixth International Business Exchange™ (IBX®) data center in the city. As AI proliferates across everyday operations, this purpose-built facility is designed to meet the requirements of high-performance workloads in proximity to clouds and networks. Combining dense interconnection with low-latency access to ecosystems across Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area, HK6 will help turn the city's AI ambition into practical outcomes that drive global innovation and productivity.

Backed by a USD 124 million investment, HK6 will deliver 1,000 cabinets of capacity in its first phase and is expected to scale to 3,550 cabinets at full build-out. Fully liquid-cooled and designed for high-density deployments, HK6 is set to meet the intense power, cooling and performance demands of advanced AI workloads. The launch also aligns with the Hong Kong government’s push to advance the city’s technology and AI agenda through a series of initiatives including the planned establishment of an AI+ Committee, the introduction of a HK$3 billion AI subsidy scheme and the continued development of the Hong Kong-Shenzhen Innovation and Technology Park.

• Located in Tsuen Wan, the 17-story facility further expands Equinix’s footprint locally. • HK6 also features an AI Discovery Hub, an AI factory at-scale solution from HPE with NVIDIA, to provide an open testing environment for customers to build, deploy and scale AI securely across hybrid and multicloud environments.
