Industry Insight

"The quieter mid-year period does not fully reflect the state of Indonesia's hotel industry. Behind the slowdown, we see demand from international tourists remaining strong, while room rates and length of stay continue to increase," said Fifin Prapmasari, Country Manager of SiteMinder Indonesia.

According to Fifin, changes in travel patterns indicate that travelers are not reducing their trips — they are becoming more selective in choosing destinations and travel timing.

"This shows that people are not cutting back on travel, but rather becoming more selective in choosing their destinations and travel timing. This means the mid-year period still holds significant opportunities for hotels in Indonesia," she said.

Fifin further emphasized the importance of technology adoption to help industry players respond to market changes more quickly.

"Hotels need to understand shifts in market behavior and know where demand is coming from so they can make decisions quickly. Technology is now an essential need for the hospitality industry. With the right technology, hotels can access real-time market information and adjust their sales and distribution strategies more swiftly when demand trends change," she concluded.
