Singapore- The Indonesian government immediately sends humanitarian aid to Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh, which to date is increasing in number.
"I have assigned our ambassador in Dhaka to follow up what is needed now by the refugees," said Foreign Minister Retno LP Marsudi in Singapore, Wednesday (6/9/2017).
She mentioned at a glance they have said that the all-season tent is indispensable today because the refuge available now is not enough to accommodate them.
"There are already some needs that come in and the plan is so once the list of requests for assistance already exists, then according to the direction of the President, we will immediately seek to send the aid because they are in a position to need tents, food or drinking water, media.
When there was a humanitarian tragedy in Myanmar, Retno said she was ordered by the President to help deal with the problem.
"We also go to Bangladesh, the main objective is to discuss directly about refugee issues in the context of what Indonesia can do to ease the burden of the Government of Bangladesh in accommodating refugees who from time to time come from Rakhine State each day to Bangladesh," she said.
In talks with the Bangladesh government, he said that she was specifically sent by the President to discuss the refugee issue.
"In addition to the Bangladesh government, I also met with UNHCR with IOM in Bangladesh who I happen to know all because last year I was in a refugee camp on the border between Myanmar and Bangladesh," she said.
According to her, Bangladesh appreciates Indonesia's support for refugee issues.
According to her, a good bilateral relationship between Myanmar and Bangladesh is a must because without it the issues related to refugee border management and so will not be done properly.
"Therefore we are trying to talk with both countries to keep the goodwill of both countries well maintained, communication continues to be done so that border and refugee problems can be solved well," said Retno.
