INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta- Asian Development Bank (ADB) is funding the design of the Jragung Multipurpose Dam in Semarang regency, Central Java, worth Rp24 billion in several years (multi-year) starting this year.

"This dam design contract is the first funded from ADB with multi-year contract worth Rp24 billion," said Head of Directorate General of SDA Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Ni Made Sumiarsih in his statement in Jakarta on Saturday (7/10/2017)

He said that the signing of the Dam Design Consultancy Works Contract has been done on Friday (6/10) by the parties.

Benefits of Jragung Dam, he added, in general for the fulfillment of raw water for households, irrigation, power plants including reducing potential flooding around Demak-Semarang Central Java.

Sumiarsih explained that the construction of new dam will enter the design phase by PT Indra Karya within 18 months and it is expected that by 2019 it can be completed and continued with the construction phase.

"We hope that ADB will also be able to finance the construction phase of the dam," he said when entering the new construction phase of land acquisition, including determining the extent of the puddle and the capacity of the dam.
