INDUSTRY.co.id - Sabang - Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi asked airport train operators to immediately conduct trials to serve passengers because technically there is no problem.

He said the airport train trial which was supposed to be done on November 1, 2017 was delayed because there is still something to be coordinated because the airport railway line is also in contact with other train lines including the skytrains of Soekarno Hatta Airport.

He asked PT Kereta Api to conduct a slot test and so the airport train could be operational.

Starting January 1, 2018, airport train will set the tariff of Rp30 thousand with the Airport Station-Sudirman Baru Station. After full operation, the proposed tariff is Rp100 thousand.

Budi Karya said the tariff determination is done by considering the investment value of PT Railink (airport train operator) in addition to people's purchasing power.

He said if compared with taxis, this tariff is still cheaper so that it is expected that 30 percent of passengers will use the train if the train operates in full within 15 minutes.
