INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta- The third runway of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Tangerang, will be built in the first quarter of 2018.

"God willing we can only start in the first quarter and can operate 18 months later," said PT Angkasa Pura II President Director Muhammad Awaluddin in Jakarta yesterday.

He said it would first build a connection lane of aircraft movement or "taxiway" which will begin in January 2018.

"We get up the 'taxiway', maybe next month we'll start," he said.

He said the amount of investment for taxi way, which is Rp1, 8 trillion.

With a third runway later, Awaluddin said it will increase the capacity of aircraft movement from 80 movements per hour to 114 movements per hour.

"From the air I say at the maximum number 78-80 and baseball may be from 80 because the regulation or from the regulator has been set, but if there is a third 'runway' it could add to 114 aircraft movement per hour," he said.

He said the need for air side capacity has been urgent because during this rush hour, the plane must queue up first.

"If the morning or the morning rush hour line can be six to seven. It is indeed the limitations of our air side that we should add," he said as quoted by Antara.

The runway is designed to accommodate large bodied aircraft with a size of 3,000 x 60 meters.

Initially, the construction of the runway will begin last April and is expected to be operational by 2018, but due to constrained land acquisition, it is delayed again.

Because the third runway development also requires a large enough land, reaching 216 hectares.

Of these land needs, AP II already owns 42.85 hectares of land, requiring land acquisition of 173.19 hectares of land financed by State Investment Fund of Rp 4 trillion.

Land acquired covers the area of Tangerang City, namely Selapajang Jaya and Kelurahan Benda, and Tangerang Regency, Bojong Renged Village, Rawa Burung Village and Rawa Rengas Village
