INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi mentioned, there are still about 600 pilot beginners in Indonesia who have not got a job. Budi Karya also asked the airlines to contribute in absorbing the beginner pilots.

"We can not cover what happened, here there are 600 pilot beginners do not have the opportunity to get a job, surely this is a sad thing for me as Minister, but I invite all components to make improvements," said Budi, quoted from the official website of the Ministry Transportation, Friday (26/1/2018).

Budi explained, the growth of the number of passengers is not directly proportional to the needs of the number of aircraft. This has led to a lack of pilot absorption.

"Currently, our flight growth is about 7-9 percent a year, but the growth is in the passengers, the number of pilots is now around 2 thousand while the growth of the aircraft is only 5 percent," he explained.

To that end, Budi asked the airlines to receive the pilots, at least to do an internship within six months or a year. According to Budi, the income given to the pilots is not necessarily the maximum, but at least they get a chance to become copilot.

"It can be part of a good recruitment process, the airlines can choose from which apprentices are good," he explained.
