This was conveyed by Vice President Jusuf Kalla (JK) when opening the 4th Jakarta Food Security Summit exhibition at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) on Thursday (8/3/2018).

Vice President Jusuf Kalla welcomed the initiative of entrepreneurs who joined in Kadin. Because food is an important issue to be solved for the state.

"The issue of food security is not just our problem, but the world problem, the problem of all humanity, there is always pessimism and optimism in this matter," he said.

He said, food becomes very important because of the increase of the world population is very high. In the next 30 years the estimated world population will reach 9 billion people.

"Right on the 100th anniversary of Indonesia's Independence Day in 2045. The Indonesian population is predicted to reach 330 million in that period, which means that food demand is constantly increasing by about 3% per year," JK said.

Furthermore, he added, with such conditions, Indonesia should be ready to increase its integrity 3% per year. "Because every year the population of 1.5%, changes in consumption patterns, the decline of land due to urbanization. That's all the challenges that must be discussed," he added.

In addition to population growth, JK also reminded the constraints of weather conditions. If high rainfall or temperature is too hot it is not good for agriculture and plantation.

Therefore he asked the entrepreneurs to become strategic partners for the world of agriculture, plantation and fisheries. He also hopes that these relationships will be able to encourage the purchasing power of farmers.

Raising the theme of Equalization of Agricultural Sector, Livestock and Fisheries Through Policy and Partnership, the 4th JFSS focuses on access to agricultural land where farmers have legal access to land, in accordance with their economies of scale.
