Upon his arrival, the President went straight to the hotel to prepare a business meeting with Brunei businesspersons at Assarra Guest House in Bandar Seri Begawan in the evening.

During the meeting, President Jokowi unveiled the Nusantara Capital (IKN)’s investment potential and the Government’s commitment to the IKN development.

“This is Indonesia’s strategic agenda and an integral part of Indonesia’s missions to achieve the Golden Indonesia 2045. The law has been passed by the Parliament with 93 percent of the votes,” he added.

The President went on to say that the Government developes the IKN as a smart forest city with 70 percent of green area and 80 percent of transporation is green-energy-based public transportation.

“This is a commitment to continuing to maintain the island of Kalimantan as the lung of the world, which brings concrete benefits for the community as well as creating a new magnet for the economy,” he said.

According to the Head of State, the main development of the IKN has reached 70 percent and it is estimated to finish in the middle of this year.

President Jokowi further said that many investors have shown their interest to invest in the IKN.

“As many as 13 groundbreaking ceremonies have been done including three hospitals, five hotels, two malls, football training center, green transporation facility, and the Nusantara Superblock, an integrated area with five-stars hotel, places of entertainment, and shopping center,” he added.

Furthermore, President Jokowi expressed his hope that Brunei businesspersons can realize their investment in the IKN, while underscoring that the Government will provide a number of incentives including super tax deduction, tax holiday, as well as duty free for businesspersons who want to invest in the IKN.

At the end of the meeting, HRH Princess Amal Rakiah as a representative of Brunei’s Investor Consoritum handed over the letter of interest to Head of the IKN Authority Bambang Susanto.
