Thepresidentpost.id - Yangon, Myanmar – As an expression of solidarity and the strong relationship between the people of Indonesia and Myanmar, the Government of the Republic of Indonesia has delivered 2.7 million doses of the bOPV polio vaccine as humanitarian aid to Myanmar (December 20). The handover ceremony took place at Yangon International Airport, with the Director for Southeast Asia Affairs of Indonesia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs presenting the aid to the Deputy Director General of the Department of Public Health, Ministry of Health of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.

During the handover event, the Director for Southeast Asia Affairs conveyed Indonesia’s offer to enhance cooperation with Myanmar by developing capacity-building initiatives in the health sector. It is hoped that, moving forward, collaboration between the two countries in the health industry can be further expanded through exchange programs that promote opportunities for Indonesian state-owned enterprises’ health products and services to enter the Myanmar market.

This donation underscores Indonesia’s commitment to providing humanitarian assistance in the form of vaccine grants for the people of Myanmar. It also reflects Indonesia’s active diplomatic role on both bilateral and regional levels.

The vaccine donation represents a tangible manifestation of Indonesia’s efforts to promote the role of national state-owned enterprises (SOEs) in the regional arena while introducing Indonesian health products to the Myanmar market. Additionally, this initiative demonstrates cross-ministerial and inter-agency collaboration, including the involvement of Indonesian AID, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Health, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia.
