INDUSTRY.co.id - Cilegon - Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi said it will close and prohibit Bojonegara Port to operate serving passenger transportation because the available fleet is considered unfeasible.
   
"Fleet of Landing Craft Tank (LCT) ship is only intended to carry goods not for passengers because otherwise not feasible can also endanger the safety," said Budi Sumadi work in Merak, Cilegon City, Banten, Saturday (2/6/20180) after checking the readiness of the Port Peacocks face the flow of homecoming.
   
Bojonegara port serving trucking is required to stop the operation during Eid holiday so it has requested assistance to the local Port Police and Port Authorities to secure.
   
The reason why the MoC requested the Bojonegara Port management to suspend its service because the crossing in this port is considered to be dangerous to passengers because it does not use standard vessels to transport passengers.
   
Whereas in every day operation, Bojonegara port is known to use LCT vessels transporting trucking vehicles in which there are also drivers and kernet as passengers.
   
During the visit, the Minister of Transportation was accompanied by the board of directors of PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry, the Transportation Agency of Banten Province, Kesyabandaran and the Port Authority (KSOP), the Land Transportation Management Center (BPTD), the Police and the TNI.
   
Minister of Transportation to the media crew said that the available fleet in Merak Port is sufficient to serve the Merak-Bakauheni crossing and vice versa, but travelers are requested not to visit simultaneously on the same day and time to prevent queue.
   
During this time people prefer to leave at night to travel in Sumatra can be done during the day for security.
   
Related to that Minister of Transportation has coordinated with the Police to provide security during the Eid forth throughout Indonesia, especially in Sumatra.
