INDUSTRY.co.id - Gunung Kidul - The Governor of Yogyakarta Special Region Sri Sultan HB X asked the people of Gunung Kidul Regency to utilize the potential of the sea along 80 kilometers to produce salt.

"If the fishermen due to weather problems can not go to sea, then instead of making salt, or residents around the coast who have been living poor, then the family salt-making business.When this is done the welfare of coastal communities would be better," said DIY Governor Sri Sultan HB X when visiting the salt making at Pantai Sepanjang Kemadang Village District Tanjungsari, Saturday (08/12/2017)

In this visit the Governor of Yogyakarta accompanied by Regent Gunung Kidul Badingah, see directly the process of making salt traditionally using a tarp measure of four meters by six meters.

According to Sultan, in Gunung Kidul area, there are several places in which are planned for salt production, including Sepanjang Beach, Nguyahan Beach, and Ngrenehan Beach.

"But the information, the best quality of salt is in Sepanjang Beach," said Sultan.

To realize this, the DIY Government through the Department of Marine and Fisheries of DIY, will provide salt-making training for fishermen and coastal communities around Gunung Kidul.

The Regent of Gunung Kidul Badingah on this occasion also hopes that the coastal community can capture the opportunities that he thinks are very good.

"It's a good opportunity and it should be utilized by the people," he said, adding that the salt-making process is also easy and the sea water is placed in a tarpaulin pond and awaited several days.

Although only simple, but Badingah still hope for training, including later sales of its production.

"We will assist in marketing the salt products of coastal residents," he said.
