β€œAsia is a top priority for Crunchyroll as the region is home to the world's most enthusiastic anime community. Our ambition is simple, which is to be the best destination for anime fans wherever they are," said Purini.

As part of the strategy, Crunchyroll will launch a service localized specifically for Taiwan in the summer of 2026. Fans in the region will be able to access Crunchyroll's global anime catalogue, including a lineup of simulcasts that come at the same time as airings in Japan.

Meanwhile, South Korea is the next expansion target scheduled for later this year. According to Crunchyroll, the South Korean market offers great potential thanks to the high consumption of digital entertainment as well as its people's cultural closeness to anime and Japanese pop culture.

The move continues Crunchyroll's investment in Asia over the past three years, especially in India and Thailand which recorded significant growth.

India is now one of the fastest growing markets for Crunchyroll globally. Through an aggressive localization strategy, the platform features more than 900 anime titles, including more than 180 dubbed versions in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. As a result, more than 65 percent of Indian viewers now consume anime through local dubbing content.

Crunchyroll data shows total viewing time in India has increased 3.5-fold, while viewing duration per user has doubled. Theaverage anime fan in the country spends more than an hour per day on the platform.

Similar growth is also occurring in Thailand. Since the launch of a fully localized service in February 2026, complete with a Thai-language interface, subtitles, and local dubbing, viewership has quadrupled.

Thailand even ranks fourth in the world in the level of anime fan engagement. This enthusiasm can be seen from the high consumption of anime across platforms, ranging from streaming, merchandise sales, film screenings to pop culture festivals such as Anime Festival Asia (AFA) Thailand.

The success of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle, which became the highest grossing Japanese film and the number one animated film of all time in Thailand, also shows the strong anime market in the country.

In addition to expanding the range of services, Crunchyroll is also preparing to announce its latest anime season with about 40 new titles that will air simultaneously from Japan, strengthening the content portfolio that is the main attraction for fans across Asia.
