Not only tasting food or souvenirs typical of Padang, Airlangga see directly the processing process, including also frying cassava chips.
"Delicious and tasty," said Airlangga during his working visit in Padang, West Sumatera, last weekend.
He added that the chips of sanjai (cassava) Ummi Aufa Hakim are included in the superior product of Kemenperin targeted IKM.
"This we made the superior because of its development is very fast, both in turnover and absorption of the local workforce," he explained.
Established since 1999 by Lukman El Halim in Payakumbuh, initially only produce kripik sanjai balado with a capacity of 300 kg per month with the help of five workers. Over time, his business continued to grow and Lukman began daring to open outlets in 2005 and 2011.
In fact, his business got coaching through the packaging design improvement facility and One Village One Product (OVOP) program. Kemenperin also facilitates the guidance on the implementation and certification of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP).
Currently, its production capacity reaches 300 tons per month with its partners reaching 100 business units and absorbing more than 1,000 workers. The average turnover of partners reaches Rp 600 million per month. Lukman also partnered with 20 cassava farmers in Payakumbuh and Padang Pariaman.
