INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta- Sukabumi Airport Development is targeted to start in 2019, said Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi.

"We have agreed with the City Government and Sukabumi Regency to plan the construction of the airport in Sukabumi, but the place we will review again, initially far from the city of Sukabumi," he said in a statement in Jakarta on Thursday (31/8/217)

He added that the Ministry of Transportation has the option to determine the location of Sukabumi Airport closer to the city.

"The residents of Sukabumi and Sukabumi are about three million people, one of the feasibility of building the airport is close to the community," he said.

Furthermore Budi said the Ministry of Transportation will coordinate with the Government of Sukabumi Regency and West Java Provincial Government so that the land acquisition is completed.

"The central government will provide contribution funds targeting at least 2018 to complete the land acquisition and it is expected that in 2019 it will begin construction and by early 2020 it will be operational," he said.

He hopes the development of Sukabumi airport can improve the economy of the people, especially those in Sukabumi District and the surrounding communities
