INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - The development of smart cities in Indonesia is driven by the Ministry of Public Works and People's Housing to improve the quality of life in the city. Moreover, it is estimated that more than 50 percent of Indonesians live in urban areas.

Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Mochamad Basoeki Hadimoeljono told media crew on a recent occasion to say "urbanization occurs in every city in the world.Therefore it should be considered a challenge, not a problem. Therefore, the PUPR Ministry is committed to widespread adoption of smart city concepts in order to improve the performance of infrastructure services, to improve efficient system optimization and to avoid disruption to infrastructure including the implementation of free flow of toll roads, the analysis of vehicle traffic and integrated waste management.

To improve the quality of intelligent urban development planning and to share experiences with other countries, the Director General (Director General) of Cipta Karya Sri hartoyo attended the conferences related to Infrastructure development to the Intelligent City which took place from 4 to 7 September 2017, in Seoul, South Korea.

The conference raised the theme, "Global Infrastructure Cooperation Conference" (GICC) and "World Smart City Week" (WSCW).

In a series of conferences discussed about intelligent city planning and development is an integration with the development of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and green infrastructure.

Learn from South Korea's experience, intelligent city planning and development including setting up its supporting industries as well as providing roadmaps used for smart city counseling in other countries.

Therefore, in a series of international conferences of GICC and WSCW, the South Korean Government invited several developing countries to attend to discuss the road map used by smart city counseling in partner countries of South Korea. In addition, there are also bilateral meetings between several partner countries.

South Korea's Ministry of Land and Infrastructure and Transportation (MOLIT) at the Habitat III conference in Quito, Ecuador in October 2016 has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on smart cities. Cooperation undertaken among other detailed formulation related to the preparation of policies and regulations, planning and management of smart cities and capacity building in urban development and management in Indonesia.

It will be followed by various activities involving not only Directorate General of Human Settlements, but also Regional Infrastructure Development Board (BPIW) and Directorate General of Housing Provision and related working units in other related Ministries / Institutions (K / L).

Intelligent urban planning and development activities are expected to be aligned with the Roadmap of the 2030 Habitable City Road which is the vision of the PUPR Ministry.
