INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta, the Ministry of Tourism (Kemenpar) is targeting to build 100 thousand homestays in 10 priority destinations by 2019 or 20 thousand homestays for 2017.
Construction of homestay will be prioritized on 10 destinations, commonly referred to as 10 New Bali namely Lake Toba (North Sumatra), Mount Bromo Area (East Java), Mandalika (Nusa Teggara Barat), Morotai Island (North Maluku), Tanjung Lesung (West Java) , Labuan Bajo (East Nusa Tenggara), Kepulauan Seribu (DKI Jakarta), Wakatobi (Southeast Sulawesi), Borobudur (Special Region of Jogjakarta), and Belitung Island (Bangka-Belitung).
Chairman of the Acceleration Team 10 Priority Destinations Ministry of Tourism (Kemenpar) Hiramsyah Sambudy Thaib said, this development will involve state-owned enterprises, enterprises or individuals.
PT Bank Tabungan Negara Tbk (BTN) expressed its readiness to contribute in developing tourism sector in Morotai including to build homestay.
"Its natural beauty in Morotai is very remarkable, we will invite SOEs, banks and investors to participate in the development of this tourist area. For banking BTN is ready to bridge, "said Hiram quoted from kemenpar (28/2/2017).
Hiram said, in 2019 Morotai is targeted to bring in as many as 500 thousand foreign tourists, therefore not only homestay, infrastructure development should be accelerated soon.

According to Hiram, the government is now preparing Morotai airport to become an international airport. Among other efforts to open the flight path to Morotai, and improving the quality of the airport.
"It is expected that the runway overlay will be done in 2017, no later than 2018," he said
Hiram added that the preparation of Morotai Airport to become an Interational Airport will be in cooperation with Citilink airlines to route flights to Morotai directly.
