INDUSTRY.co.id - Denpasar - PT Angkasa Pura I I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Bali, stated that the flight operation at the local airport is still safe after Mount Agung in Karangasem regency erupts again by spraying volcanic ash as high as 1,500 meters.

"Operational flight is still running smoothly, we keep monitoring the current situation," said Head of Public Relations Division of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Arie Ahsanurrohim International Airport in Denpasar, Saturday (25/11/2017)

According to Arie, his office coordinates with the Meteorology Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) and other relevant agencies to share the latest information related to volcanic activity of Gunung Agung which is likely to impact the weather and airspace around the airport.

The Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) issued an orange alert for the flight path associated with the eruption of Mount Agung through the Vulcano Observatory Notice to Aviation (VONA) page.

VONA also mentioned that the volcanic ash is expected to head west-southwest in the direction of the wind.

While the Ngurah Rai Airport is in the south of Bali so it is still considered safe from the spread of volcanic ash.

The update of the information is expected to be taken into consideration by the pilot to be aware of by avoiding the path over Mount Agung despite the current volcanic ash height estimated at about 1,500 meters above the peak.
