INDUSTRY.co.id - Pontianak - President Joko Widodo inaugurated the expansion of domestic and international terminal of Supadio Airport, Pontianak, West Kalimantan.

"By saying bismillah, the passenger terminal of Supadio International Airport in Pontianak this afternoon I declared opened," said President Joko Widodo at Supadio Airport, Pontianak, Thursday (28/12/2017)

President Joko Widodo came with Mrs. Iriana Joko Widodo, Minister of Marine Affairs Coordinator Luhut Binsar Panjaitan, Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi Chief of Staff of President of Teten Masduki and Special Staff of President Ari Dwipayana.

"I've seen from the front of the international airport terminal Supadio Pontianak is so very grand with a very artistic dayak ornaments, and we expect the airport is sufficient for passengers who have been so many years always “Exploded”," said the President in his speech.

The President did not review all the ethnic Dayak airport terminals in blue copper, but only reached the front of the terminal.

"I can get information because the growth of passengers at this airport is 15 percent, meaning that if now there are 3.5 million passengers means next year is not enough this terminal," added the President.

President Director of PT Angkasa Pura (AP) II Muhammad Awaluddin, said the expansion of Soepadio Airport has been started since 2015 and completed in August 2017, with an investment of Rp350 billion, specifically for terminal development.

"I was whispering with the Minister of Transportation if this terminal does not mean enough to be built bigger again, this is already 32 thousand square meters, meaning that if you want to pursue the growth of 15 percent means it must be built 2-fold to 64 thousand square meters, but I want see if really growth and such a big terminal like this is not enough anymore, "said the President.

The President also admitted there is a need for additional "runway" airport.

"Secondly related to the 'runway', there is planning 'runway' not only one will also be prepared two, the CEO of AP submitted to me for the plan but the decision we see first, if 'traffic' solid will not runway must be built again," said the President.

The airport terminal is expanded from 13,683 square meters to 32,000 square meters, with 1.5 million passengers per year now accommodating 3.8 million passengers annually.

Likewise the runway which currently reaches 2.250x45 meters is upgraded to 2.650x45 meters and will be upgraded to 3.000x45 meters next year.
