INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) encourages efforts to prevent construction accidents following the massive development in Indonesia as the government's efforts to accelerate the development of strategic infrastructure.

Deputy Chairman of Kadin for Construction and Infrastructure, Erwin Aksa said that the recent accidents in the national strategic projects should sound alarm danger for the contractor's work.

"National contractor companies that are now pursuing the timing of completion of various infrastructure projects should step in hand to ensure supervision and safety assurance and the quality of infrastructure in the field," said Erwin Aksa on the sidelines of the Focus Group Discussion held at Menara Kadin Indonesia, Jakarta (25/1/2018).

He added that if supervision and safety assurance and quality of infrastructure less attention, it will affect the smooth work and very harmful to all parties.

"Safety issues are the main thing," said Erwin.

As is known, the government has confirmed the perpetrators of national construction services should implement safety standards, safety, and occupational health.

Related to that, Erwin also confirms the company and all parties need to implement the standards that apply to reduce accidents and failures in construction projects.

Therefore, Kadin provides some recommendations points to be considered by the government and other stakeholders to support the safety, health and safety standard that is, firstly, Kadin fully supports the government's efforts to form an integrated National Committee for Construction Safety from the center to the area in which there is representation from the Government, Chamber of Commerce (business representatives) and experts or construction experts.

Second, Making safety work for contractors rather than contractors' expenses, and ensuring that all stakeholders (BPJS, Ministry of Manpower and contractors) can work together to facilitate the improvement of the skills of construction workers.

Furthermore, third, the Synergy between BUMN Contractors and the private sector to improve safety by considering that many private contractors are also very capable of working together and still prioritize safety aspects of the work in the implementation of the project.
