Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (SOE) Rini Soemarno said, the need for funds for infrastructure development within 5 years based on government plans (RPJMN 2015-2019) is approximately about USD 500 billion.
"To achieve the government's objectives, we are committed to encouraging connectivity, in the air, sea, land and telecommunications, which also includes the Internet and fiber optics, as well as building power plants, Rini said in Investor Meeting in Zurich, Switzerland.
By the end of 2014, toll roads in Indonesia only reach 780 kilometers. Currently, Indonesia is building 1,800 kilometers of toll roads by the end of 2019, a figure that is more than double that achieved during the last 69 years.
"We are also working to increase the electrification ratio to 96.6%, building a new power plant with a combined capacity of 35,000 MW," she explained.
On the digital infrastructure side, Indonesia plans to develop more fiber optic network to 158,850 km in 2018 from 112,494 km in 2014.
In addition, the development of 152,000 Base Transceiver Station (BTS) to encourage development in the telecommunications sector.
"Our expansion plans are ambitious and realistic at the same time, this is mainly because we have some competitive advantages that other countries do not have, such as demographic bonuses," Rini said.
Going forward, it continues to drive infrastructure development, the goal is to upgrade state-owned enterprises to global standards.
"Some SOEs have reached global standards, many still need to be pursued, for example, we encourage airport companies to work with global companies," Rini added.
Various sectors including ports, tourism, toll roads, electricity and others are expected to significantly improve their standards. "In addition to direct investment, we also need fundraising, both from banking and capital markets," she concluded.
