INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Operations Area 1 Jakarta plans to operate long-distance long-haul trains for short haul transport such as Bandung and Cirebon.
Executive Vice President of KAI Daop I Jakarta, Dadan Rudiansyah, said that long-haul trains that have been parked at Jakarta station can be optimized for short distance such as Bandung which has high passenger frequency.
"For example, train from Yogyakarta to get here in the morning, then go back to Jogja that night. While the train is waiting, we can use for short distance of PP for example Bandung, so there is no old parked car," said Dadan in Jakarta, Thursday (1 / 2/2018).
Dadan explained, before the train is operated, of course, maintenance and inspection to ensure the goodness of the train.
This plan is to anticipate the surge of train passengers who experienced a positive trend. Where, the trend of train usage to Bandung is still high especially because of Jakarta-Cikampek toll congestion impact of LRT development.
