So far, Ahmad Yani Airport Semarang is the gateway of Central Java province with a capacity of 800,000 passengers per year, while existing passengers in 2017 have reached 4.4 million passengers per year.

The development of Ahmad Yani airport in Semarang is an urgent thing to do, and the government fully supports all development efforts that have been done to continue to improve and service excellence to the community.

"The airport in Semarang is critical with the old facilities that are very worrying. I appreciate, build effort from the Ministry of SOE, Angkasa Pura 1, and Governor of Central Java is so supportive. Because this could be the format in other areas, collaboration between central government, regional and state-owned enterprises. And this model can be applied in other places, "said Minister of Transportation.

With the development of Ahmad Yani Airport, the airport will be able to accommodate up to 6 million passengers per year so that it will be able to provide more service to the public service users.

The development of Ahmad Yani Airport in Semarang is included in the National Strategic Project as set forth in Presidential Decree No. 58 of 2017 on the Acceleration of National Strategic Projects (PSN).

The operation of the new terminal and the development of Ahmad Yani airport cost Rp 2.07 trillion. It is planned that the new terminal will start operating with minimum requirements in May 2018 or before the Eid period.
