INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - Minister of Industry, Airlangga Hartarto today held a meeting with the US-ASEAN Business Council delegation related to the potential for development of industrial and investment cooperation in Indonesia.

"The US-ASEAN routinely makes meetings, one of them with the Ministry of Industry aimed to see the complaints faced by the industry," Airlangga said after meeting with the US-ASEAN Business Council Delegation at the ministry office, Jakarta, Thursday (3/8/2017 ).

He added that in the meeting there were several issues raised such as the multinational Food and Beverage (F & B) company on refined sugar auctions. "This is what we are also talking about, because the industry is expected to keep the raw materials unhampered, it is expected that the auction will change the business to business scheme that we have been doing," said Kemenperin, speaking with the Ministry of Trade related to the mechanism.

A second issue concerning Domestic Component Level (TKDN). Companies like GE expect that implementation and monitoring of TKDN can be implemented, because the facilities they have in Surabaya during this utilisasinya very low or almost zero (0), so that those who previously could produce boilers, until now there has been no purchase at all. "Yesterday we had a meeting with the President, he insisted that in order to increase the utilization of national production or national industry into homework we have to do again, hope that TKDN can run," said Menperin.

Furthermore, Qualcomm's industry and other industries in telecommunications appreciated the scheme by the Ministry of Industry, where options from investment in computers and telecommunications use three lines of software, hardware and innovation.

In addition, industries based on raw materials such as animal feed, they expect that raw materials derived from imports can be given access and they certainly expect local raw materials to be improved such as maize and cassava because it is very affecting.

Furthermore, from the pharmaceutical industry they are questioning which is related to the implementation of halal law. "Because in the pharmacy there are chemical products so that if the certification and implementation are unclear it will lead to disturbances in the supply of raw materials and their R & D development plan in Indonesia," Airlangga added.

Further Airlangga said, US investment in manufacturing sector is relatively small in 4-5 years ahead. They are more to the existing business expansion, whether F & B, Philip Morris or another one related to excise. "They expect that the ever-increasing excise duty can be seen again in order to increase the excise tax is not too high," he concluded.
