INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - Local manufacturers and small and medium industries (IKM) supporting Train components (KA) continue to be encouraged to play a role in the country's railway industry. This is to increase the level of components in the country.

Expert Staff of Minister for the Increase of Domestic Products Utilization The Ministry of Industry Imam Haryono said that currently the domestic rail component support industry has been able to produce about 70 percent of the total requirement of national railway components. It is included in the manufacture of frame products or rail bodies.

"It is expected that in the next two years we will be ready, or able to 80 percent of the total needs of components (rail) in the country," said Imam in the event of Indonesia Railway Conference 2018, in Jakarta, Thursday (22/3).

He also expects PT Kereta Api (INKA) as the sole integrator of the domestic railway industry to be more open to involving the component industry of railway IKM in the manufacture of rail products and other products.

"It is expected that in the next 2-3 years will also strengthen small and medium industries, especially those that produce quality components," he said.

He added that the government encourages all industries to move quickly from upstream to downstream. Of course, by prioritizing the domestic components through the creation of a conducive business climate both fiscally and other aspects.
