Thepresidentpost.id - The government continues to support the development of Indonesian football through the application of sport science, infrastructure development, as well as sustainable and long-term programs.

This was conveyed by the Chairman of the All Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) Erick Thohir in his statement at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, on Monday (o5/06/2023).

"One, we will implement sports science. Secondly, infrastructure development, one of which is the training camp at IKN (Archipelago's Capital), where the government provides land and builds basic infrastructure," he said.

Erick said that this effort could be made with the support of the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) which cares about Indonesian football. Erick said FIFA had allocated funds of around USD 7.3 million.

"FIFA has allocated funds of approximately USD 7.3 million, so this is an extraordinary facility. There are five soccer fields, a beach ball field, a futsal field, there will of course be supported by sports science and adequate resting areas," said Erick.

Furthermore, Erick said that the government would build a sustainable program for young players of the Indonesian national football team. Like the current U-16 and U-17 players who will later be prepared to enter the U-20 and U-22 matches.

"For the U-20 and U-22, of course we have prioritized under Coach Indra to try at the ASIAN Games as a form of appreciation and again a test of courage. And also some of the U-20 and 22 players who don't have a club yet will join - of course the Bhayangkara club as a continuation program for this young national team," said Erick.

Furthermore, Erick said that the government would also support a long-term program of developing football in Indonesia.

"Earlier I ventured, we will describe the long-term program, of course PSSI will also find its own money but thank God earlier Mr. President, Mr. Menpora also took part in building this long-term football program," he said. (BPMI SETPRES/AIT)
