INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - the Government has made sure there is no decrease in people's purchasing power. This is because there is no indication of data that indicates the cause of weakening purchasing power as rumored lately.
Only the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) noted there is a shift in consumption patterns from offline to online. But this is only happening among the upper middle class.
In response, Chairman of the Association of e-Commerce Indonesia, Aulia E. Marinto said, the growth of e-commerce trade transactions every year continues to increase. Even e-commerce could potentially reach USD 130 billion until 2020.
"This is a business model that fits in. With the prospect of Indonesia's economy to build e-commerce, then we feel the growth from time to time," said Aulia in Jakarta (12/08/2017).
She noted that e-commerce transactions in 2017 increased by 30% to 50% when compared with 2014. "The amount of e-commerce transactions is still 2% of total consumer trade transactions," said Aulia.
Meanwhile, based on data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), the growth of information and communications business field during the second quarter of 2017 was recorded the largest reaching 10.8% year-on-year (y-o-y).
The business field in the industry grew only 3.54% (y-o-y). However, the share of information and communication on economic growth is still very small at 3.83 and y-o-y, the figure is still far above the industry sector which dominates by 20.26% (y-o-y).
