INDUSTRY.co.id – JAKARTA – Indonesian President Joko Widodo attended the Inauguration of the Central Executive Board (BPP) of the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (HIPMI) for the 2022–2025 Service Period at the Kempinski Hotel, Central Jakarta, on Monday (20/02/2023). In his address, President Jokowi emphasized that hands-on experience in the field is the most powerful shaper of a strong entrepreneurial character.

"Entrepreneurs are not born in classrooms alone. The real school of entrepreneurship is in the field — dealing with real problems, real customers, real competition. That is where character is forged," said President Jokowi in his keynote speech.

The President called on HIPMI members to seize opportunities in Indonesia's growing economy and to think globally while acting locally. He pointed to Indonesia's significant position in the G20 and the country's ambitions within the World Trade Organization (WTO) framework as opportunities for young entrepreneurs to expand into export markets.

Jokowi also highlighted the contribution of the private sector, including young entrepreneurs, to Indonesia's Gross Domestic Product (GDP). He urged HIPMI to play an active role in supporting the government's downstream industrialization agenda, particularly in high-value sectors such as electric vehicles, food processing, and digital economy.

HIPMI, with over 40,000 members across Indonesia, has been a key partner of the government in fostering entrepreneurship among young Indonesians. The new BPP leadership for the 2022–2025 period is expected to build on previous achievements and strengthen the association's role as a bridge between young entrepreneurs and policy makers.

The inauguration was attended by several cabinet ministers, governors, and prominent business leaders, reflecting the significance of HIPMI as a platform for developing Indonesia's next generation of entrepreneurs and business leaders.
