INDUSTRY.co.id -ย Jakarta -ย The Ministry of Industry continues to strengthen international cooperation networks to support national industrial transformation through Indonesia-Russia bilateral meetings in the series of BRICS Forum on Partnership on New Industrial Revolution PartNIR Forum 2026 in Xiamen, China.
This meeting became a strategic momentum for the two countries to expand industrial collaboration, trade, investment, to the development of future industrial technology.
The relationship between Indonesia and Russia has been established for decades. The year 2026 marks 76 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries. As Indonesia joins BRICS, cooperation with member countries including Russia is increasingly important to strengthen national economic and industrial resilience amid global dynamics.
"The BRICS Forum on PartNIR is very important to us. We greatly appreciate the Russian Government's support for Indonesia's membership in BRICS and would be very interested in hearing views on the future direction of industrial cooperation within the framework ofBRICS," said Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita in Jakarta, Thursday 11/6.
The Minister of Industry said that Indonesia's membership in BRICS was a strategic step to expand economic and industrial collaboration with potential partners. The PartNIR BRICS Forum is a dialogue space for member countries to strengthen collaboration on new industrial sectors, technological innovation, downstream, to the development of a more resilient and inclusive global supply chain.
In the bilateral meeting, Indonesia and Russia discussed opportunities to strengthen mutually beneficial industrial cooperation, especially in the strategic sector. The meeting was represented by the Director General of Resilience, Regional Affairs, and International Industrial Access KPAII of the Ministry of Industry Tri Supondy accompanied by the Acting Director of International Industrial Access Binoni A. Napitupulu with Counsellor of Russian Trade Mission in China Andrei Gorobets.
Director General of KPAII said, strengthening international communication and partnerships is important in opening market access, expanding national industrial networks, and creating adaptive industrial collaboration on global technology. "The synergy between Indonesia and Russia is expected to open concrete cooperation opportunities that add value to the industrial development of the two countries," he said.
In terms of trade, the economic relations between Indonesia and Russia show a positive trend. The value of non-oil and gas bilateral trade in the first quarter of 2026 reached around USD 1 billion, an increase of 1.13 percent compared to the same period the previous year, according to data from the Ministry of Industry. Indonesian exports to Russia in 2024 were recorded at USD 3.3 billion, up 13.38 percent compared to the previous year, also based on the Ministry of Industry's statement. Exported superior products include rubber, coffee, cocoa and tea, footwear, electronic components, and chemical products.
The bilateral meeting also discussed wider opportunities for collaboration within the BRICS framework, especially ahead of China's chairmanship next year. Indonesia hopes that this momentum will be used to increase industrial and investment cooperation among BRICS member countries.
Indonesia also invites Russia to increase the participation of business actors and investors in INNOPROM 2026 when Indonesia becomes a Partner Country. The presence of industry players is expected to strengthen business networks and open new opportunities for cooperation and investment in Indonesia.
Indonesia welcomes the Indonesia-EurasianEconomic Union Free Trade Agreement I-EAEUFTA signed in December 2025 at St. Petersburg, Russia. This agreement is expected to expand market access and increase trade and investment flows between Indonesia and Eurasian Economic Union member countries including Russia.
Indonesia confirmed its participation as a Partner Country at the INNOPROM 2026 International Industrial Exhibition, July 6-9, 2026 in Ekaterinburg, Russia. This participation is a strategic step to strengthen the promotion of the national manufacturing industry in the Eurasian region while opening up opportunities for industrial cooperation and wider investment.
Tri is optimistic, strengthening bilateral relations between Indonesia and Russia through BRICS PartNIR Forum 2026 will strengthen the collaboration of the two countries in building a modern, competitive, and globally oriented industry. "Through synergies that continue to be strengthened, Indonesia hopes to expand its role as an important part of the world industrial supply chain while strengthening Indonesia's position as an investment destination and global manufacturing production base," he said.
