2026 is an important milestone because it marks the fifth year of MotoGP implementation in Mandalika since it was first held in 2022. During this period, Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia developed into one of the largest sports tourism agendas in the country and contributed to strengthening Indonesia's image on the world sports map.

As an organizer through PT Indonesian Tourism Development (Persero) or InJourney Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), with the support of PT Mandalika Grand Prix Association (MGPA) as an operator of Mandalika International Circuit, various preparations continue to be made to ensure that the implementation runs according to international standards set by Dorna Sports and Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM).

Chairman of Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia 2026, Troy Warokka, emphasized that all parties are currently focused on ensuring that this year's event is able to provide the best experience for participants, teams, and visitors.

“Each MotoGP series has its own characteristics and appeal. Mandalika is unique because it combines world-class racing competitions with the charm of Indonesian tourism destinations. Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia is a national event involving the support of central and regional governments, ministries and institutions, BUMN, sponsors, motorsport communities, tourism industry players, UMKM, and local communities. This synergy is an important foundation in providing better implementation from year to year.

The world's trust in Indonesia as a host is also reflected in the achievements of the previous implementation. In 2025, Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia successfully attracted 140,324 spectators and became one of the largest sporting events in Indonesia.

More than just a racing event, MotoGP Mandalika also provides real benefits to the community. The presence of this event has boosted the growth of the national motorsport and tourism ecosystem as well as opened wide economic opportunities for various sectors.

More than 600 local UMKM are involved in the event and destination ecosystem, while more than 3,000 workers are absorbed in various supporting sectors. This impact is also felt by creative economy, cultural arts, culinary, and tourism actors who have greater opportunities to introduce their products and services to national and international markets.

Towards the implementation of 2026, ITDC and MGPA have followed up on various evaluations from the previous implementation through a number of operational quality improvement programs, both in the circuit area and the Mandalika area as a whole.

The focus of preparation includes aspects of safety, security, crowd management, transportation management, regional cleanliness, to improve customer experience to ensure the comfort of all visitors while in Mandalika.

In the destination area, various arrangements continue to be carried out through optimizing the experiential destination area, increasing connectivity to superior tourist attractions, strengthening shuttle services and regional mobility systems, developing a more curated F&B and UMKM area, and improving standards of cleanliness and visitor service.
