INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BRI continues to strengthen its commitment in supporting the growth of the populist economy through the distribution of Kredit Usaha Rakyat (KUR). As a bank that focuses on the empowerment of UMKM, BRI consistently expands access to financing for business actors in various regions in order to increase productivity, create jobs, and strengthen the real sector that is the foundation of the national economy.

Director of micro BRI Akhmad Purwakajaya revealed that this commitment is reflected in the realization of KUR BRI distribution which from January to May 2026 has reached Rp84.36 trillion or equivalent to 46.87% of the total KUR allocation in 2026 of Rp180 trillion. "The majority of the distribution is directed to productive sectors that have a direct impact on people's economic activities, with a portion reaching 67.18% of the total KUR that has been distributed," he said.

In line with efforts to strengthen national food security, the agricultural sector is the largest contributor to the distribution of KUR BRI with a financing value of Rp35.91 trillion. These achievements reflect BRI's commitment in supporting farmer productivity as well as strengthening sectors that are the foundations of food security and economic drivers in various regions.

The distribution of KUR BRI has a strategic role in strengthening the populist economy through increasing access to financing for business actors in various regions. According to Akhmad, the focus of KUR distribution in productive sectors is in line with efforts to support Asta Cita of the Government of the Republic of Indonesia, especially in strengthening food security, encouraging entrepreneurship, and strengthening economic equity through the empowerment of UMKM.

“KUR is not just a financing instrument, but part of a joint effort to strengthen the foundations of the national economy from the grassroots level. Distribution directed to productive sectors, especially agriculture, is expected to increase the productivity of community businesses while strengthening the regional economic base and supporting the national food security agenda. Through increasingly inclusive and targeted financing access, UMKM and business actors can grow stronger, create jobs, and make sustainable contributions to the national economy," said Akhmad.

Cumulatively from 2015 to May 2026, BRI has distributed KUR amounting to Rp1,520 trillion to more than 48.1 million beneficiaries throughout Indonesia. These achievements reflect the consistency of BRI in expanding financial inclusion while strengthening the role of UMKM as the backbone of the national economy.
