INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - Kulon Progo Airport Development, in addition to build connectivity in the DI Yogyakarta region also in order to support Borobudur tourist destination area which is one of the 10 National Tourism National Region.

Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi said the connectivity program not only supports tourist destinations but also connects the two airports via rail.

"The connectivity program of the region also connects Adi Sucipto Airport in Yogyakarta with Adi Sumarmo in Surakarta by railway line," said Budi Karya, Sunday (27 / 8/2017).

He said it had requested to BPKP together with the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, PT. Angkasa Pura I (Persero) to conduct technical discussions related to the draft President Regulation of Kulon Progo Airport Acceleration.

In addition, the MoC also requested the Ministry of PUPR and PT.KAI (Persero) to support access to Kulon Progo Airport.

"I ask the Ministry of PUPR to be facilitated by the toll road network infrastructure and request to PT KAI to conduct a study of airport train connecting Yogyakarta Airport with Yogyakarta City which is approximately 41 km," said Budi Karya.

Budi hopes, Local Government Kulon Progo Regency can take advantage of the location of the area around the airport to be made commercial areas such as office housing, warehousing or industry.

"The area around the airport can be utilized so as to improve the local economy and support the sustainability of the area around the airport such as the concept of Aerotropolis or Airport City," said Budi Karya Sumadi.

Kulon Progo Airport development is targeted to be completed and operational by 2019.
