Character creation has become one of the main reasons people play Sakura School Simulator. Over the last two years, Garusoft has added skin color, new faces, facial expressions and, in 2026, a full Make up tool.
Each tool has rules about which characters it works on, and those rules are only written in the patch notes. This guide collects them in one place, based on the App Store version history checked on November 3, 2026.
Quick answer: In Sakura School Simulator, open Chara edit to use Make up (added in 1.047.05, January 2026), skin color (1.044, February 2025), new faces and expressions (1.045.17, June 2025) and Heart, Star or One-Eye Magic Circle eyes (1.047.11, February 2026). Make up and the new eyes do not work on classic faces, and changing skin color after make up resets the make-up color.Face and Body Editing Tools at a Glance

How Make Up Works
Version 1.047.05 added "Make up" in Chara edit. Garusoft's notes include two important rules:
- Who can wear it: the function is disabled for "Classic faces", kids, the cat butler, passersby and some other characters.
- Order matters: changing "Skin color" after applying make up resets the make-up color.
So the best order is: pick a modern face, set skin color, then apply make up. The same update fixed some characters' eyes poking through their eyelids when smiling.
New Faces, Expressions and Eyes
Version 1.045.17 (June 2025) added six female and three male faces plus new expressions such as a wink. Only some of the new expressions are available on the male "Face 1" and the female "Face 1" and "Face 2".
Version 1.047.11 (February 2026) added three special eye expressions: Heart, Star and One-Eye Magic Circle. Garusoft notes that none of these work with the old faces. It also added a Headshot option to CharaEdit camera settings, available only for playable characters, so you can zoom in on the face while editing.
Skin Color Limits
Skin color change arrived in version 1.044 (App Store build of February 7, 2025). Its patch notes list several limits:
- It does not work on the cat butler, convenience store clerk, female amusement park staff, kindergarteners, animals or Sukiko Kuruma.
- "There is a limit to the total number of color changes. The more colors you have, the stricter the limit."
- Only playable male and female characters and the setting "Same color for students" can be saved.
Classic faces received their own fixes later: smooth face shading for classic boy faces in 1.045.20 and smooth shadows on classic faces in 1.046.01.
Tips Before You Edit
- Update first. 1.047.12 fixed a bug where renaming through "SELECT COSTUME" caused an error and deleted the character's data.
- Use a new face if you want make up or heart and star eyes.
- Set skin color before make up so your colors are not reset.
- Use Headshot camera for detailed face work on playable characters.
- Keep the color count low to stay within the skin color limit.
