INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta- The Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and a number of mass organizations formed the Humanitarian Alliance of Indonesia for Myanmar to stop the Rohingya humanitarian tragedy in Rakhine, Myanmar.
In that effort, each party discussed and formulated concrete steps to help resolve the humanitarian tragedy that befalls the minority in Rohingnya.
PBNU Secretary General Helmy Faishal Zaini said here on Thursday (08/28/2010) that NU and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and 11 mass organizations are trying to mobilize humanitarian aid which includes health, food and protection aid.
Some organizations are also joined in the alliance, such as Muhammadiyah, Darul Dakwah wal Irsyad (DDII), Al Irsyad, Mathlaul Anwar, Dakwah Islamiyah Council (DDI), and Ikadi.
According to him, what happens to the minority in Rohingya must get serious attention and also concrete steps from various parties.
"I see there must be a serious effort to resolve the conflicts and humanitarian tragedies that exist in Rohingya.Today we gather in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in order To formulate what steps, strategies and policies should be taken in reducing and resolving the humanitarian tragedy in Rohingya, he said.
Helmy added the intimidation of the minority in Rohingya is a real humanitarian tragedy. "This is a humanitarian disaster, so we can not only use a narrow point of view and simplify it only on religious matters and beliefs," he said.
Because what happens is the tragedy of humanity, continued Helmy, then all must take responsibility in the name of humanity.
