INDUSTRY.co.id - Batam - Batam Enterprises Agency (BP) noted that the realization value of foreign investment entering into Free Trade Zone and Batam Free Port in the first half of 2017 decreased approximately 20.43 percent compared to the same period of 2016.

"In the first half of 2016 the investment value reached 377.342 million US dollars, while the first half of 2017 the value of incoming investment of 300.220 million US dollars," said Director of Promotion and Public Relations BP Batam, Purnomo Andiantono in Batam, recently.

Realization of investment into Batam in the first half of 2017, said Purnomo, comes from 25 investment projects, while in 2016 the number of projects reached 39 investment projects.

"By the beginning of 2016 there is one investor who has invested in Batam extending to 155 million US dollars while 2017 does not exist, so in total this year has decreased," he said.

The investment value, he said, has reached about 60 percent compared to the target of foreign investment that is expected to enter into Batam amounting to 500 million US dollars.

"For this year our target will be investments to Batam amounting to 500 million US dollars. We remain optimistic especially until the middle of the year has entered 300.220 million US dollars," said Purnomo.

Until now, he said, investment that goes to Batam is still coming from Singapore although not necessarily the company belongs to Singapore.

"Some foreign companies operate in Singapore and also operate businesses in Batam, so it is not always a Singapore-based company," he said.

Earlier in late May 2017, the Head of Batam Enterprises Hatanto Reksodipoetro presented breakthroughs to facilitate investment in Batam at about 50 Singaporean entrepreneurs in Singapore Business Federation activities.

The breakthrough meant by Hatanto is a system improvement from manual to online in all services utilized by investors. The system is implemented in a variety of services such as a three-hour investment license (i23J) and Ease of Direct Investment Construction (KILK) which is highly appreciated by investors.

"Also other facilities and services such as Host to Host Online Port Permission Systems and Geographical Information System (GIS) applications for land management with drone mapping such as in Singapore," Hatanto said.

The breakthrough received positive response from Singapore businessmen as the main speaker in the Business Dialogue between Singapore Business Federation (SBF) and Kadin Indonesia Singapore Committee on Tuesday (30/5) at SBF Center, Robinson Road, Singapore which was attended by about 50 entrepreneurs.
