INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - Chief Executive of the Indonesian Consumers Foundation (YLKI) Tulus Abadi said that the use of electronic cards for toll payments or "e-Toll" is more beneficial to toll road managers than to consumers.
"The toll road management is no longer dizzy to prepare the change for the return of the toll tariff paid by the consumers," said Tulus in a short message in Jakarta on Thursday (12 / 11/2017)
Tulus said that although the toll road manager previously suggested toll road users pay using the right money, but in reality almost all consumers need money back when paying toll rates.
Payment using "e-Toll" also gives more certainty to the number of toll road users and reduces the possibility of manipulating the number of toll road users and toll road operator revenues.
"With the use of 'e-Toll' the number of actual toll road users can be more transparent," he said.
In addition to benefiting toll road managers, Tulus said that the use of e-Toll and electronic money as a whole is also beneficial to Bank Indonesia.
According to him, the use of electronic money in bulk will cause the printing costs of currency to fall.
"Moreover, the production cost of making money is greater than the nominal value listed on currency, especially for small denominations," he said.
Therefore, government claims and toll road managers that "e-Toll" is an instrument to improve services should be accompanied by incentives to toll road users, rather than disincentives in the form of replenishment costs as previously disclosed.
On October 31st, 2017, all payment transactions at toll gates will be made using "e-Toll".
