"The position of Indonesia under Thailand for the quality of road infrastructure, ports and airports, and the quality of road infrastructure in Indonesia under Brunei Darussalam," said Chairman of Supply Chain Indonesia (SCI), Setijadi, Saturday (2/12/2017)

According to him, in that period, the improvement of Indonesia's infrastructure quality is relatively higher than other ASEAN countries, but has not been able to pursue the quality of infrastructure of Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand.

"Improving the quality of infrastructure is expected to improve the rank of Indonesia's Logistics Performance Index (LPI) to be issued by the World Bank in 2018," he said.

In 2016, LPI is based on six dimensions, namely: efficiency of customs & border management clearance, quality of trade and transportation infrastructure, ease of international delivery arrangement, competence and quality of logistics service, tracking & tracing ability, and timeliness of delivery.

Based on LPI report 2016, Indonesia's infrastructure quality dimension is ranked 73 with a score of 2.65. The quality of this infrastructure affects the high cost of logistics and the price of expensive goods that affect the competitiveness of Indonesian products.

"Infrastructure development needs to be continuously done within the framework of improving national connectivity, including for the logistics sector," said Chairman of SCI.

In the next stage of development, it is necessary to plan infrastructure development in an integrated manner, either between modes of transportation or between regions, so as to ensure the effectiveness of its utilization.

The results of infrastructure development, including logistics infrastructure, must be followed by the operation of infrastructure in a professional, transparent and accountable manner.

"In addition, the development of logistics infrastructure must also be in line with the regional commodities, the central government and local government need to work together to develop the infrastructure to improve the competitiveness of each region's commodities," he concluded.
