INDUSTRY.co.id - Bandung- Indonesia views the important position of the World Trade Organization (WTO) to secure market access and ensure the realization of a fair global trade for Indonesia's export commodities, the official said.
"The WTO keeps international trade in order to run in a fair and balanced way, and there is no discrimination," said Director General of Multilateral Cooperation Ministry of Foreign Affairs Febrian A Ruddyard in Bandung, Monday (26/3/2018)
Speaking in front of at least one hundred Government Officials on the Capacity Building of Government Officials on the WTO Issue: "Specific Trade Concerns in the WTO", Febrian said the important position of the organization which was officially established since January 1, 1995 was in line with President Joko Widodo's message to the heads of Indonesian representatives abroad .
The head of state recently warned that one of the important tasks of Indonesian foreign policy is to support national development through increased foreign investment and the expansion of traditional and nontraditional market access for Indonesian export commodities, he said.
Therefore, a three-day workshop featuring the Regional Head of Asia Pacific Regional Institute for Training and Technical WTO Faustin Mukela Luanga is very important to support the realization of various regulations and policies of ministries and agencies in accordance with WTO basic principles, mechanisms and work functions, she said.
Meanwhile, in his speech, Faustin Mukela Luanga, praised the workshop.
She hopes that the participants will be able to improve their understanding of the WTO so they can formulate regulations and policies that are in line with international commitments.
"During these three days of workshops, participants will receive materials on WTO basic principles and some specific cases of trade disputes dealt with by the WTO," she added.
The workshop initiated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was followed by participants from various related ministries such as the Ministry of Trade, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights, the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries as well as a number of employers associations
