INDUSTRY.co.id - Singapore - Cybersecurity cooperation will be developed in the ASEAN region, especially in the 32nd ASEAN Summit in Singapore as one of the joint efforts to be wary of cyber attacks.
Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno LP Marsudi in Singapore on Friday (27/4/2018) held a press conference related to the 32nd ASEAN Summit said cybersecurity cooperation is motivated by the potential of ASEAN in terms of e-commerce including ASEAN internet users who are expected to rose to 300 million and its value is enormous.
"But we need to be aware of cyber attacks so cyber cooperation is a must," she said.
She said the cooperation developed not only between countries but also covers the information and communication technology industry.
"There is a cyber security cooperation framework including the protection of personal data," she said.
On the same occasion, ASEAN Cooperation General Director Jose Tavares said a statement from the leaders and heads of ASEAN countries in relation to cyber security had been agreed.
"Cooperation encompasses various issues such as capacity building, norms in the cyber world for cyber security issues and protection of personal data," he said.
Singapore hosted the 2018 ASEAN Summit on the theme "Resilient and Innovative ASEAN" preceded by a meeting of permanent member countries for ASEAN on April 25 and SOM (Senior Official Meeting) on April 26, 2018.
Then followed by ASEAN ministerial meeting on April 27, 2018 followed by President Joko Widodo's presence in plenary session on April 27 and "retreat" session on 28 April.
