INDUSTRY.co.id - Singapore - President Joko Widodo called on Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc to immediately complete the maritime boundary negotiations (EEZ) between Indonesia and Vietnam.

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) in a bilateral meeting with Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc held on the sidelines of the 32nd ASEAN Summit held at Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore, Saturday (28/4/2018) invites PM Nguyen to immediately complete negotiations on maritime boundaries between the two countries.

Some of the results of JCBC meeting that need to be encouraged to be followed up immediately, according to the President, among others, the completion of negotiations of maritime boundary (exclusive economic zone) Indonesia-Vietnam.

The completion of this maritime boundary, continued the President, will be able to prevent the occurrence of incidents and increase cooperation of fisheries and marine.

"I am sure we will be able to resolve it soon," the President said.

In addition, the President also said the preparation of the 2019-2023 Action Plan to implement the strategic partnership of both countries should be completed by November 2018.

The President also appreciated the export of Indonesian motor vehicles to Vietnam which has been able to run normally in the near future.

"The effort to realize the 10 billion dollar trade target can be achieved by 2020," he continued.

Related to the concept of Indo-Pacific cooperation presented by Indonesia in the ASEAN Summit, the President appreciates the support of Vietnam.

"I also expressed appreciation for Vietnam's support for the concept of Indo-Pacific cooperation that I conveyed at this summit," he said.

At the beginning of his speech, the President also invited the Vietnam PM to attend the "ASEAN Leaders Gathering" which will be held in Bali on October 11, 2018.

The President also said he would consider well the invitation of the Vietnamese PM to attend the "World Economic Forum on ASEAN" on 11-13 September 2018.

"I will consider well the invitation," said the Head of State.

Also present at the bilateral meeting were Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Wiranto, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Darmin Nasution, Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi, Trade Minister Enggartiasto Lukita, Moeldoko Presidential Chief of Staff, and Indonesian Ambassador to Singapore I Gede Ngurah Swajaya.
