The new models are designed specifically to meet the growing demands of hyperscalers and large-scale data center operators who require higher bandwidth out-of-band management capabilities. As network infrastructure scales to handle exponential data growth, the need for reliable, high-speed out-of-band access has become critical to ensuring uptime and operational continuity.
Gary Marks, President of Opengear, said the expansion directly addresses demands from hyperscalers and large enterprises that require faster, more capable out-of-band management to keep pace with their network infrastructure.

The CM8196-10G features 96 serial console ports with dual 10GbE network connections, while the CM8148-10G offers 48 serial console ports with the same high-speed connectivity. Both models support Opengear's Lighthouse management platform and are built for deployment in environments where network access must remain available even during primary network outages.
Opengear's Smart Out-of-Band technology enables network and IT teams to maintain secure access to critical infrastructure during outages, automate failover processes, and perform remote management tasks without relying on the primary network path.
