INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta – PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk through its data center operating company, NeutraDC (PT Telkom Data Ekosystem), continues to strengthen the development of national and regional digital infrastructure through a joint venture data center, NeutraDC Nxera Batam. The first data center building in Batam (BTM-1) which is scheduled to be ready to operate this year has successfully obtained partners for all its capacities.
The high market demand encourages companies to start preparing for the development of a second building, BTM-2, to increase capacity and answer the growing needs of data centers in the SIJORI area.
One of the strategic partners that has secured capacity inBTM-1 is Gorilla Technology, a global AI solution provider, security, and data analytics company headquartered in London, UK, and operating in various countries in Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and the Americas. Through the signed partnership, Gorilla will utilize the NeutraDC Nxera Batam data center capacity to support the implementation of AI infrastructure and the development of digital services in the Asian region. The presence of global partners such as Gorilla further strengthens the position of NeutraDC Nxera Batam as a digital infrastructure destination that is able to answer the needs of AI, cloud, and digital services at the regional level.
Director of Strategic Business Development & Portfolio of Telkom Seno Soemadji, said that this achievement reflects the stronger position of TelkomGroup in carrying out the transformation towards a digital infrastructure company which is one of the main pillars of the TLKM 30 strategy. The high trust of global partners in NeutraDC shows that Indonesia, especially Batam, is increasingly being considered as an important part of the growing regional digital ecosystem.
"This success is a validation of Telkom's transformation steps to build a business portfolio that is more focused, competitive, and able to create long-term value. As the need for cloud, artificial intelligence, and digital services in the Southeast Asia region increases, we see digital infrastructure will be one of the main foundations for the future growth of the digital economy. The trust given by this international partner shows that Indonesia has a great opportunity to play a more strategic role in the regional digital value chain. The high market demand for BTM-1 is also a positive signal for Telkom to continue its next capacity development through BTM-2, as part of efforts to strengthen Indonesia's position in the regional digital ecosystem while supporting the vision of TLKM 30 in creating a new sustainable growth engine," said Seno.
According to him, Batam has an increasingly important position as one of Indonesia's digital connectivity gateways that connects the domestic market with the regional digital ecosystem. Strengthening data center capabilities in Batam not only supports the needs of current partners, but also strengthens Indonesia's readiness to capture opportunities for digital economic growth that are increasingly integrated at the regional level.
"Through the development of a world-class digital infrastructure, Telkom wants to ensure that Indonesia is not only a digital market, but also an important part of the development of the regional digital ecosystem. This step is in line with TLKM 30's vision to build a new growth engine, strengthen national competitiveness, and create sustainable value for Indonesia and all stakeholders," he added.
CEO NeutraDC Group Andreuw Th.A.F, said that the success of securing global strategic partners such as Gorilla Technology was an important momentum for the company in accelerating the development of a global standard data center ecosystem in Indonesia.
“We are excited to welcome Gorilla Technology and other global partners at NeutraDC Nxera Batam. The high market interest in our data center in Batam validates the readiness of the infrastructure, service quality, and development strategy that we have built with strategic partners to support the growth of the digital economy and the adoption of AI in the region," concluded Andreuw.
Furthermore, the development of NeutraDC Nxera Batam is not only aimed at answering the needs of the digital industry, but is also expected to provide social and economic impacts for the surrounding community. The presence of data centers is projected to open new jobs, encourage the growth of local digital talent, increase regional economic activity, and strengthen the attractiveness of Batam as a technology and digital investment destination.
CEO NeutraDC Nxera Batam Indrama YM Purba, added that Batam has a great opportunity to become one of the strategic digital data centers in the region. “Batam is a very potential location with strong international connectivity support, proximity to regional economic centers, and a growing investment environment. We see a high demand for data center capacity in the SIJORI area. This is the basis for the next capacity development plan in Batam."
The development of NeutraDC Nxera Batam of 100 MW was also carried out by taking into account the principles of sustainability and operational efficiency, in line with TelkomGroup's commitment in delivering sustainable digital infrastructure. The company continues to prioritize the application of energy efficient technology, global standard operational governance, and development practices that support environmental sustainability.
Along with the increasing need for artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, and digital services in Southeast Asia, the presence of NeutraDC Nxera Batam is expected to be one of the important foundations in supporting the acceleration of national digital transformation as well as strengthening Indonesia's position as a regional digital hub.
