INDUSTRY.co.id - Yogyakarta - A wave of digitalization is not only a challenge for the market for commercial products. However, the future will also penetrate into the industrial sector.

Therefore, Minister of Industry (Menperin), Airlangga Hartarto invites the young generation of Indonesia to capture business opportunities from the development of digital economy today.

According to him, the digital economy market in Indonesia currently reaches USD11 billion and is projected to increase to USD110 billion in the next five years.

"Therefore, we need to increase the competence of human resources so that we can face the industrialization of digitalization, one of the key of the development is to hone skills including English speaking," he said to SMKI SMY Yogyakarta Graduation and Polytechnic AKA Bogor in Yogyakarta, (5/11 / 2017).

He added, the digital industry can boost the national economy. "It is expected that graduates begin to adjust and prepare to welcome the technology trends of industry and Industry 4.0 as the sustainability of the digital economy era," he explained.

Therefore, the Ministry of Industry has implemented a strategic program in the effort to achieve the potential through vocational education with the concept of link and match between SMK and industry.

"Industrial growth is determined by three factors, namely investment, technology and human resources, and the availability of competent human resources will boost productivity and make industry more competitive," Airlangga said.

In addition, the Ministry of Industry also focuses on improving facilities in SMK through cooperation with industry so that it can be equivalent between practice materials and production process in the company. "We are starting to improve the SMK curriculum in this vocational program," he added.

Minister of Industry affirmed that all education units within Ministry of Industry have specialization in certain industrial sector and supported by supporting facilities such as workshop room, laboratory and Teaching Factory which suitable with industry.

"We are also equipped with Professional Certification Institution (LSP) and Competency Test Venue (TUK) for the implementation of competency certification," he said.

The Minister of Airlangga stated that graduates of SMK and Polytechnic within the Ministry of Industry are entirely absorbed in the industry in less than six months.

"For example, in SMTI Yogyakarta, in this graduation opportunity, the absorption has reached 97 percent, because the graduates produced have competence according to the needs of the industry. This achievement is what we want to spread to all vocational education in Indonesia, and we start from SMK," he explained.

Currently, Kemenperin has 9 SMK, 9 Polytechnics, and 1 Community Academy that has become a reference for the development of vocational education in Indonesia because it succeeded in establishing a truly competency-based education system as well as link and match with the industry.
