INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta- Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) reported that production growth of large and medium manufacturing industry (IBS) in the second quarter of 2017 increased four percent compared to second quarter of 2016.

Head of BPS Suhariyanto told a press conference in Jakarta on Tuesday (1/8/2017) that the increase was due to the rise of metal goods industry production, not machinery and equipment by 10.86 percent, followed by pharmaceutical industry, chemical drug products and traditional medicine By 9.21 percent.

"What drives the chemical and chemical goods industries also rose 8.98 percent," Suhariyanto said.

BPS noted, the types of industries that experienced a decline in production were other manufacturing industries, down 10.53 percent, the beverage industry, down 8.26 percent, and repair and installation services of machinery and equipment, down 7.57 percent.

At the provincial level, which experienced the highest growth was the Bangka Belitung Islands Province, up 20.58 percent, Jambi Province, up 14.44 percent, and DKI Jakarta Province, up 11.29 percent.

In contrast, the provinces that experienced a decline in growth were Aceh Province, down 10.52 percent, Bengkulu Province, down 10.04 percent, and Riau Islands Province, down 8.04 percent.

The growth of large and medium manufacturing industry production in the second quarter of 2017 also increased by 2.57 percent compared to the first quarter of 2017.

Types of industries that experienced increased production were the food industry, up 8.59 percent, the machinery and equipment Industry, up 7.97 percent, and the base metal industry, up 6.86 percent.

In the meantime, the largest industrial decliners were rubber, rubber and plastic goods, down 8.75 percent, other manufacturing industries, down 7.77 percent, and paper and paper products industries, down 6.79 percent .

At the provincial level experiencing the highest growth is Lampung Province, up 12.51 percent, followed by Bengkulu and Bangka Belitung Islands, each rose 4.90 percent.

Meanwhile, provinces that experienced a decline in growth were Bali Province, down 3.98 percent, Maluku Province, down 1.62 percent and Jambi Province, down 1.30 percent.
