INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - In order to enhance bilateral trade cooperation between Indonesia and Taiwan, the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) signed a memorandum of understanding with Taiwan External Trade Development Council, at President Lounge, Batavia Tower, Friday (30/3/2018)
The signing ceremony was conducted by Mr. Walter M.S, CEO of Taitra and S.D. Darmono as Chairman of Kadin Taiwan Committee. Currently Taiwan is implementing the policy of the New Southbound Policy or economic and trade strategy policy that sharpens the important role to the development of countries in the region of ASEAN and South Asia.
There are still many opportunities and gaps that can be worked together with Taiwan, so Indonesia needs to imitate some applicable sectors, such as industry, said Darmono who is also Chairman of Jababeka Group
He continued, the difficulty of foreign investors to cooperate in Indonesia is related to local issues, such as land acquisition and local government regulations.
Through the policy of the New Southbound Policy it is expected that trade relations between Indonesia and Taiwan can move forward to a better level. Taiwan's investment value in Indonesia last year reached USD 300 million. This means there has been a doubling compared to the previous year, and is expected to encourage significant growth in Taiwan's investment value in Indonesia, said Vice Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Committee Rini Lestari.
Currently also ongoing event Taiwan Expo 2018 at the Jakarta Convention Center on 29-31 March 2018. Taiwan Expo in Indonesia became the second holding by TAITRA. Attend about 200 Taiwanese businessmen, also 11 thematic pavilions ie digital ecommerce, Meet Taiwan, New Taipei City Green Industry, Kaohsiung City, Taiwan Agricultural, Taiwan Healthcare.
The latest products in the thematic exhibition areas, such as Cosmetics & Personal Care, Food & Drinks, Halal Products, Home Products, ICT Products, Sports & Outdoor and Taichung Good Life are available at this event.
Also showcased yarn and fabric made from coffee grounds pulp. And introduce a technology that is able to transform waste tires into environmentally friendly materials.
The exhibition also provides the best opportunity for Indonesians to gain experience on Taiwan in various aspects.
This event, according to Mei-Hua Wang, Vice Minister of Ministry of Economic Affairs, is regarded as a milestone in the development of the relationship of Trade
bilateral Taiwan with Indonesia.
"With the new panhandling of Southern countries from Taiwan to create a mutually beneficial partnership with partners from the southern states of Taiwan, this event is very important," he said.
