INDUSTRY.co.id - Ternate- Investors from Brunei Darussalam are interested in investing in various sectors in Kota Tidore Islands, North Maluku (Malut), including agriculture, animal husbandry and fishery.
Head of the Tidore Islands Agricultural Service Imran Jasin in Tidore said Friday that the Brunei Darussalam investor will cooperate with PT Halmahera Jaya Gemilang, one of the domestic companies to realize its investment in Tidore Islands.
Memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Tidore Islands municipal government with investors from Brunei Darusallam and PT Halmahera Jaya Gemilang already signed in Brunei Darusallam some time ago, especially for Tidore Islands municipal government conducted by the mayor of Tidore Ali Ibrahim Islands.
According to him, in the agricultural sector, investors from Brunei Darusallam will develop a corn-planting business of 25 thousand hectares, in the livestock sector will develop cattle and goats in an area of 250 hectares and in the fishery sector will develop shrimp pond business of 500 hectares.
The results of the effort will be aimed at exports, particularly to Middle Eastern countries, so that it is in line with the central government program that continues to drive investment development to boost exports.
Tidore Islands municipal government, said Imran Jasin, has provided land for the business development location of investors from Brunei Darusallam, namely in Oba, Oba Tengah and Oba Selatan areas, which is known as a potential area for the development of agriculture, animal husbandry and fisheries.
The investment from Brunei Darusallam investors, in addition to encouraging economic activity in Tidore Islands, will also increase local revenue, create jobs and stimulate the growth of other businesses, such as trade and transportation.
He added that the workforce to be absorbed by the business to be developed by investors from Brunei Darusallam is estimated to reach 2,000 people, of which 80 percent of it is for job seekers from the local area.
