INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - Chairman of the United Development Party (PPP) faction which is also a member of Commission I of the House of Representatives, Arwani Thomafi, praised the success of Indonesia which has been elected to become a non-permanent member of UNSC period 2019-2020.
"Welcomed positively to the election of Indonesia as a non-permanent member of the UNSC in 2019-2020 with five permanent members of the UN Security Council and nine non-permanent members of the UN Security Council," Arwani said in a statement delivered in Jakarta on Saturday (9/6/2018)
According to Arwani Thomafi, this event is the fourth opportunity for Indonesia to become a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, 1973-1974, 1995-1996, 2007-2008 and 2019-2020.
"The hope of Indonesia's involvement as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council can actively take part in formulating UNSC resolutions," he said.
In addition, Indonesia's position will become the UNSC President for one month to lead the UN Security Council.
Indonesia's position as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council voices humanitarian issues that have been the concern of Indonesians such as the issue of independence in Palestine, the humanitarian issues in Rohingya, including issues of justice for developing countries as well as environmental issues that have a vision for sustainable development.
The main mission of RI in the UN Security Council as a non-permanent member must carry the mission of the spirit of the constitution. namely promoting world order and world governance with a vision of justice, humanity and equality.
"The position of Indonesia as the largest Muslim-majority country in the world should serve as a strategic value to voice a peaceful, moderate Islam and voicing the interests of Islamic countries," he said.
